Dayton Area Firms Land $200 Million In Defense Contracts

University Of Dayton Research Institute, Joby, Collins Aerospace All Get Contracts The University of Dayton Research Institute has received a contract from the Air Force Research Institute with a ceiling of $85 million for research “to enable a vehicle system design product and thermal management system design methodologies.” An Air Force contract to Dayton manufacturer Joby Aviation saw a $45 million ceiling increase for autonomous logistics and cargo work, the Department of Defense (DOD) said. The contract came from Air Force research unit AFWERX at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. Butt Construction in Beavercreek, Ohio, was awarded a $17.7 million firm-fixed-price contract for the construction of an aerospace ground equipment facility in Lackland, Texas. Goodrich Corp.’s Collins Aerospace plant in Troy, Ohio was awarded a maximum $10.4 million firm-fixed-price contract for a C-5 cargo plane heat sink, a part that absorbs heat. This two-year base contract originated with the Defense Logistics Agency Weapons Support in Ogden, Utah.
