Authorities say they arrested an 18-year-old who was planning a shooting attack at the Mall of America FBI officials stopped a potential terrorist attack on the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, authorities announced Wednesday. An 18-year-old was arrested on one count of obtaining a firearm to carry out an act of terrorism. Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud had been investigated over the last nearly two years by the FBI. He was arrested Tuesday in a public park after he paid $600 to an undercover FBI employee posing as a member of the Islamic State for an AK-47 and 200 rounds of ammunition, according to the criminal complaint. Seventeen people killed at township bar near Johannesburg and 10 killed in separate incident at store near Cape Town, officers say Two separate mass shootings near South Africa’s two biggest cities killed at least 27 people, police have said. The South African police service said on Sunday that 17 people had been killed on Saturday night when eight suspects armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols opened fire at a bar in Wedela township, south-west of Johannesburg. Mass shootings in South Africa leave at least 27 dead

Cape Town: At least 27 people were killed in two separate mass shootings near South Africa's two largest cities, police said on Sunday. The South African Police Service said 17 people were killed on Saturday night after suspects armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols opened fire at a bar in Wedela township, southwest of Johannesburg. In a separate incident, police said 10 people were killed in a mass shooting at a store in Lwandle, near Cape Town, at around 1am on Sunday. The latest attacks come only days after a mass shooting at a house party near the east coast city of Durban left 11 people dead, including a pregnant woman. Police said no arrests had been made in either of the latest shootings and that preliminary reports indicated authorities were searching for multiple suspects in both cases. Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
